Our commitment
Every pair of Mercuri sunglasses is sold in accordance with UK product safety law. Sunglasses are classed as Category I personal protective equipment under Regulation (EU) 2016/425 as it applies in Great Britain, and the applicable product standard is BS EN ISO 12312-1:2022 (Eye and face protection - Sunglasses and related eyewear).
UV protection
Mercuri lenses are polycarbonate, which blocks UVA and UVB radiation. Test documentation for our ranges is held on file, and we are progressively completing independent verification and UK laboratory testing across every model. A Declaration of Conformity for each model is available on request.
Filter categories
Sunglass lenses are graded 0-4 by how much visible light they let through. Most Mercuri colourways are category 3 - the standard dark sunglasses tint, giving high protection against sunglare. Some light-tint colourways (for example Nova Slate and Nova Crystal) are lighter-category lenses designed for style and low-light conditions rather than bright-sun glare protection. The category for your pair is stated on or with the product.
Important use information
- Not suitable for direct observation of the sun (including eclipses)
- Category 3 lenses are not suitable for driving in twilight or at night
- Not protection against artificial light sources (e.g. sunbeds) or mechanical impact hazards
- Clean with mild soap and water and a microfibre cloth; avoid solvents and alcohol
- Replace lenses if scratched or cracked
